Alan J. Franklin, MD, PhD, Mobile, AL, shares his surgical case demonstrating a difficult surgical problem. His 45-year-old male patient, a complex diabetic with dense pre-retinal membranes, with no light perception in his fellow eye. Dr. Franklin effectively treated this patient with new surgical technology, NGENUITY, which provided better stereopsis and better depth of field and 10,000 cpm, cuts per minute, beveled vitrectomy probe. The surgical case was started with a 25-gauge platform and then, transitioned to a 27-gauge platform. The 27-gauge was equally as good entering the surgical plane.
